Sponsorships

Over the years, we have strived to sustain the tempo of our efforts in the area of social advocacy and corporate responsibility. As a responsible corporate citizen, the Bank is determined to continue its contributions in various areas of our national life. A major area of interest for us is eye care where the Bank has made it an obligation to help eliminate all forms of avoidable blindness. Plans are underway to expand the scope of our involvement in this initiative which serves as our contribution towards the Vision 2020 project aimed at reducing the incidence of blindness by half. Since 2009, we have sponsored the Annual Congress/Scientific Conference of the Ophthalmological Society of Nigeria (OSN). This is a demonstration of our support for the OSN, who has the responsibility of tackling blindness in Nigeria.

Also under health care, the Bank continues to play a role in the fight against the HIV/AIDS scourge through various supports to the Nigerian Business Coalition Against AIDS (NIBUCAA), an NGO made up of companies that are committed to providing leadership towards advancing the national response to the pandemic. In the areas of education and youth development, the Bank's record is unprecedented. As part of our youth development initiatives the Bank set up a resource centre within the Niger Delta University campus for the school community. The resource centre consist of an internet cafe, computerized library, viewing center and server Room. Of particular mention is our sposnsorship of the maiden edition of the West African University Games (WUGA). Subsiquently, we co-sposnored the edition of the Nigeria University Games (NUGA) hosted by the University of Nigeria, Nssuka recently. The underlying objective is the need to engage youths in positive social activity to reduce delinquency and involvement in societal ills.
