A Corporate Social Responsibility initiative of the bank aimed at enhancing the growth potentials of Nigerian entrepreneurs through capacity building.
The Vision of the Child is an initiative geared towards promoting education through creative thinking, literary arts and painting skills. This vision is in tune with the educational policy in Lagos State and that is why government has participated actively in it since inception. Diamond Bank will continue to do so as long as it provides children the platform to express their understanding of the world they live in, their vision of what it should be, as well as their fantasies and dreams.
The Diamond bank Employee volunteering programme was launched in December 2013. Each year, through our Employee Volunteering Programme, and in partnership with the Lagos State Government under the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Diamond bank provides free entrepreneurial training for artisans in various vocational centres across Lagos State.
Since 2014, Diamond bank has achieved the following under the employee volunteering scheme as summarized below:
- Growing our partnership with the Lagos State Government (Ministry of Women Affairs & Poverty Alleviation) and trained more than 1200 artisans through the Lagos State skill acquisition Centre’s across the state;
- Developed a ‘Business Education for Entrepreneurs’ Curriculum for our staff volunteers to train non –client micro and small enterprises;
- Donated state of the art training equipment to 18 vocational centres across the states
Diamond Bank, in collaboration with ICT company, MTN and global nonprofit; Women’s World Banking, is unveiling the next phase of the Diamond Y’ello account through an innovative partnership aimed at deepening the financial inclusion of women in Nigeria.
With support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, this partnership seeks to build understanding of what it takes to make digital financial services work for low-income women. The Diamond Y’ello account will be developed as a global model for expanding women’s access to and usage of digital financial services through simplified steps in account opening and banking transactions, using mobile phones.
